Chicken liver is particularly rich in the important vitamin A, but also in B vitamins (B2, B12), biotin and minerals such as iron, copper and zinc. Low-fat liver is generally very well tolerated, but some dogs and cats tend to reject it from their food if the pieces are too large. In this case, acceptance can be improved by chopping up or briefly frying the liver. If too large quantities are fed, liver can have a slight laxative effect. However, since only relatively small amounts of liver are needed to cover the vitamin A requirement anyway, this important offal should generally not be fed in large quantities in one meal.
