A tasty complete BARF menu from horse with all the important ingredients in a balanced ratio. Also suitable as an exclusion diet if allergies are suspected. BARFGOLD has dispensed with herbs or other additives, such as green-lipped mussel extract, so that you can decide for yourself what and how much your dog or cat gets, depending on their needs. Because every animal has different needs.
In addition, a nice raw meat bone, e.g. horse bone, should be fed 2-3 times a week so that your dog has something to chew on and can clean its teeth at the same time. This also provides valuable calcium and other healthy nutrients for the musculoskeletal system. The bone is cartilaginous and also provides calcium, but it cannot be compared to a real raw bone. The problem here is simply that a mincer or a cutter (the complete diets are minced) cannot process horse bones. Since our complete BARF menus are minced, we recommend feeding whole bones in addition. For example, depending on the dog, 2-3 times a week for additional teeth cleaning. If your dog tends to swallow larger pieces of bone too early, please make sure that you give him a larger bone, which you can put aside early if necessary.
The fat content of the BARF complete food can be supplemented with other fats. Up to 20% of the daily ration is allowed. Especially if you are very active with your dog. Why? The dog gets its energy from fat. If there is too little fat available, the protein is used to generate energy. However, this metabolic process (if it continues over a long period of time) puts a strain on the kidneys. This may be the reason why it is often said that BARF is a strain on the kidneys: because the dog is fed too little fat. If a diet really has to be followed, the total amount of food should be reduced. BARF complete menus can be supplemented with oils. Goose fat or a piece of good butter are also fine.
As a dietary supplement, fresh salmon oil should be added daily to the BARF menu as a source of omega-3 fatty acids. And seaweed meal should be added 2-3 times a week as an iodine source. To ensure the vitamin D supply, please feed sea fish, e.g. salmon, mackerel or sprat, 2-3 times a week or add cod liver oil to the BARF ready-made menu 2-3 times a week.
